The Maine Coon is the largest domesticated cat breed and one of the most popular breeds in the United States. With their large physical size and sociable personality, maine coons are known as the “gentle giants.” Their physical characteristics usually include a prominent ruff along their chest (resembling a lion’s mane), with an uneven, two-layer coat, a robust bone structure, rectangular body shape, longer ears with “lynx” tufts, and a long, bushy tail. Like the adult cats, you’ll find maine coon kittens are also larger in size taking four years to reach full maturity.
